We were hanging out in Greenpoint and got the hankering for some pizza, so a quick search came up with Paulie Gee’s, where everyone raved about the creative pizzas and the great service. Having been warned about the potential for long lines we showed up promptly at 5:55PM, just before they opened at 6PM. There was a small crowd waiting with us and we were granted the honour of being seated without having to wait. The entrance was pretty cool, a big wooden door (too bad we didn’t take any pictures of it), and the interior was pretty cool (or hipster) albeit pretty dark. We were seated with a nice view of the pizza oven.
A quick glance of the menu showed a number of interesting pizzas, with the pizzas containing hot honey really catching our eye. In the end we decided to shy away from the standards and order two of the pizzas that seemed a little more adventurous to try something new. We ended up ordering the Hellboy (with Berkshire Sopresatta Piccante and Hot Honey) and another whose name I cannot recall with Speck and Maple Syrup. Anyways, both pizzas were great, although we kind of regretted ordering two quasi-sweet pizzas. Next time we’ll probably stick with one sweet pizza and one “normal” pizza.
Anyways, if you are in Manhattan or Brooklyn go check it out for yourself!
